Love from PA: Longwood Gardens

Friday afternoon started out as a promising day at Longwood Gardens.
Acres of lush greens grass, cascading water, and the most exquisite flowers
and trees imported from around the world.

Pearl was beside herself to be out among such beautiful things.
That was until a terrible cold took hold.
This cold made even the most beautiful place seem very unhappy for one small girl.

At first there were a lot of tears, a lot of resisting.
Resisting juice, snacks, mom holding her,
even being pushed in the stroller, a usual favorite.

After some time, she surrendered into my arms.

Sometime in between all of that, we managed to
have an amazing afternoon.

Elle was such a good helper with Pearl.

Longwood Gardens was created by Pierre DuPont.
He and his wife were never able to have children, but he loved them,
and wanted the gardens to be kid friendly.
And it most definitely was.

We washed the day down with
Rita's Water Ice

Which is like a rainbow from Pace's Dairy Ann, but waaaaaaaaaaaay better.
Pace's rainbows has always been one of my delights, so that is saying a lot.
The slushy part is almost creamy, and instead of ice cream, it's frozen custard.
I took mine in the Strawberry flavor,
with a scoop of Orange Cream custard,
 right through the middle.

Heaven.
